Rapid Twitter Extension

About the extension

Rapid is a Twitter extension for bot detection that works for Parsi and English tweets. There is a dropdown on the navbar for changing the language. The extension shows the likelihood of a tweet being generated by a bot. There is also an option for users to report tweets as bots. On initially downloading the extension and clicking on it you will see an option to sign in with Twitter or report anonymously.

Clicking on the Sign in with Twitter button will take you to a page that will ask you to give permission to access your Twitter account. We only use your username if you report a tweet as a bot. This would allow us to add more credibility to the reporting process. If you do not want your username associated with your reports, you can click the button Proceed Anonymously. If you do this then we do not collect any information from you. After this you would have to solve the captcha (You would only have to do this once in a while for using the extension).

Features

• Bot detection: Clicking on the chrome extension shows the likelihood of a tweet being created by a bot as a percentage next to the tweet along with a dot which is colored red, yellow or green. The colors correspond to the following ranges of likelihood.

• Report as bot: On clicking the report as bot button next to a tweet, you can report a tweet as a bot if you feel that the tweet has been made by a bot. After clicking the button, a popup would show up and you would have to select an option for why you think this tweet has been made by a bot. You can select multiple options. You also get an option to write your own explanation in the textbox if none of the options defined by us match your case or if you want to provide further information to help us. You will not be able to submit the form until one options is selected or you have written some reason in the textbox. You can not submit the form until you solve the captcha. We appreciate your help in reporting a tweet as a bot. This will help us in serving you with a more reliable bot detection.

• Report a user: Once you have reported 5 tweets by a particular user. You will get the option to report the user. If you think that this particular user is suspicious, you could report it.
